VOLKSWAGEN ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL OF 33,799 MY 2011-2012 JETTAS

Some sixth-generation Jetta sedans recalled because of accessory exhaust tips

Herndon, VA -  Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announces a voluntary safety recall of 33,799 model year 2011 and 2012 Volkswagen Jettas.

The recall affects some sixth-generation Jetta sedans built between March of 2010 and August of 2011. On Jetta sedans built in this timeframe that are equipped with port- and dealer-installed Volkswagen accessory stainless-steel exhaust tips, there is a risk of injury because these tips extend beyond the factory-installed exhaust pipes.

Customers are asked to bring their vehicle to the dealership, where affected vehicles will be inspected and their stainless-steel exhaust tips will be replaced, if necessary.

Affected owners will be notified via first-class mail regarding the corrective measures and anticipated repair timeline.

Customers with questions or concerns should contact Volkswagen Customer CARE at 1-800-822-8987.
